Jewitt family searching for answers

On Thursday, May 12, 2016, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Winnfield Police received a report of shots fired at Strolls on Lennox Avenue. Two minutes later, the department received a second call from the same area about shots being fired. One minute later, a call from the Winn Parish Medical Center notified police that a shooting victim was in the emergency room, where he was later pronounced dead. The dead man that day was Fernando “Freddie” Jewitt. And, his family and friends are still looking for answers. On July 27, two months and two weeks after his death, a march was held to honor his memory and bring attention to his unsolved case. Original plans were to begin the march at the Winnfield Funeral Home and end it at the Winnfield Police Department.
