Our yellow rose of Texas,our beloved mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother,great-great-grandmother, sis-ter, aunt and friend, Mary IdaShirley Bush Maxwell, 84, ofSullivan Farms/Doyline,Louisiana, died peacefully inthe arms of God on Friday,April 17, 2015, in Winnfield,LA. Funeral services were heldat 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday,April 21, 2015 at HollowayBaptist Church, HickoryGrove, Louisiana with Rev.Scott Sullivan and Dr. JackWest officiating. Intermentwas in the church cemeteryunder the direction ofGallagher Funeral Home,Ball, Louisiana.Mary Ida was born Sept. 10,1930, Kerrville, Texas, toClifford and Mary Shirley.She was a talented but humblegardener (her flowers stillbloom) and seamstress. Shecould and did make every-thing for everyone imagin-able, including bibs for nurs-ing homes.She was retired fromPinecrest State School inPineville, La. Later she was achurch and hospice volunteerand also served as a FosterGrandparent. She was a mem-ber of First Baptist Church,Haughton, Louisiana. Her big-as-Texas heart andher strong capable hands con-tinually blessed the worldaround her and as grandsonScott once observed, she wellexemplified the Bible’s defin-ition of having the “true heartof a servant”. She thought theworld of her kids, grandkidsand great grandkids, and thelegacy of that unconditionallove will always be unrivaledby any other kind of inheri-tance on earth.She is survived by four chil-dren: Kathleen Ada BushPaulk (Kirby), Mary IreneBush Sullivan (James),Jerome Franklin Bush (SharonChaudoir) and DarleneAnnette Bush Tucker (Rick);Twelve grandchildren: KurtisPaulk, Kerry Paulk, KristinaPaulk Hickman, MichaelSullivan, Scott Sullivan,Suzanne Sullivan Wilson,Autumn BushAltamirano…Arwen BushRobertson…Dell Bush…ChetTucker, Deann Tucker andJohnny Tucker. She also issurvived by 27 GreatGrandchildren and 11 Great,Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in deathby the father of her children,Ellus Franklin Bush, a grand-daughter, Kamii Paulk Dauzatand a granddaughter-in-law,Anita Paulk.Pallbearers were MichaelSullivan, Kerry Paulk, KurtisPaulk, Dennis Hickman, ReidWilson, and Ethan Sullivan.There are not enough wordsto express our thanks and loveto Shani Fallis of Winnfield.She lovingly cared for Mommore like a friend than a care-taker.We owe a mountain of grat-itude to Autumn LeavesNursing Home in Winnfield,La., who helped care so faith-fully for our mother through-out the last year of her life andwho always respected ouradvocacy on behalf of ourmom and who helped dignifyher end of life so well. Justlike us, they didn’t alwaysknow the exact right thing tosay or do in every single situ-ation where the complicatedcare our mother needed wasconcerned but from adminis-tration to nurses to CNA’s totherapists to housekeeping tocoordinators to the kitchenstaff, their hearts were alwaysin the right place, and youcannot ask for more.
