Frederick (Fred) Jackson Chandler

Mr. Frederick Jackson Chandler, age 70 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, April 02, 2015. Fred was a former businessman in Winnfield beginning with owning and operating Chandler’s Grocery & Meat Market in the mid 60s and was in the furniture business until the early 90s. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including flying planes, raising horses; team roping, fishing and spending time with his family. Born Friday, December 29, 1944 in Laredo, Texas, he was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lois Jones Chandler and one brother, Ricky Chandler. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Nita Young Chandler, daughter, Shana Chandler, son, Tommy  Chandler and wife Angie all of Winnfield; 4 granddaughters, Robin, Lorie, Melissa and Traci; 9 great-grandchildren, Kaleb, C.J., Jordan, Dalton, Kade, Brianna, Lathon, Brian and Adalyn; sister, Polly Haist and husband Charles, of Shore Acres, TX., and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 03, 2015 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Ingles and Rev. David Fowler officiating. Interment followed in Cypress Creek Cemetery, in Dodson. Serving the family as pallbearers were Chris Haist, Travis Reed, Cody Powell, Rex Lasyonne, Patrick Carey and Adam Southerland. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Wiley, Merle Brunson, Herman Castete, Pete McFarland and Matthew Reed.
