On April 1st, 2015, after 88 years, Evelyn Moore Wall entered the sweet Beulah Land she had sung of for so long. Her  family and friends mourn the loss of such a kindhearted and loving woman, but thank God that she now rests in her heavenly home. Born on August 12, 1926 in Biltmore, North Carolina, Evelyn was the youngest of Luther and Jennie Spearman Moore’s eleven children. She spent her youth in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, and after finishing high school moved to Natchez, Mississippi, where she worked for the Maranatha Mission Board and later attended Millsaps College. It was also in Natchez that Evelyn met her life-long love, Kenneth Wall, whom she married soon afterward. The two spent
fifty-seven beautiful years together until his death in 2007. They dedicated their lives to serving in pastoral ministry at churches in Nebo, Winnfield, Jennings, Church Point, and Lake Charles. Upon retirement, they enjoyed traveling around the country in their Airstream camper. Evelyn will be remembered as a caring person, devoted wife, loving mom, doting grandmother, gifted musician, follower of Christ, and a woman with a sweet spirit and a sweet tooth. Her husband lovingly
referred to her as the ideal pastor’s wife. She sang beautifully, was an accomplished pianist, and worked as a church  secretary. She also ministered to others unselfishly and supported her husband throughout every aspect of his church work. She taught piano for many years and leaves as part of her legacy students who still play today. She loved to cook for her family, and prepared the fried quail better than anyone on the planet. Her favorite role in life was that of raising her three boys, and then becoming “Granny” to their children. She is survived by her sons, Kenny Wall of Highlands, North Carolina, Keith Wall and wife Marcia of Jennings, and Kyle Wall and wife Melanie of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four  grandchildren, Andrew Wall and wife Hallie of New Orleans, La., Katherine Wall of Jennings, and Emily and Olivia Wall of Virginia Beach, Va. Her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, and her husband, Rev. Kenneth F. Wall, preceded her in death. Pallbearers were her three sons and her only grandson; Jr. Cormier, and Kevin Hunt. The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Camelot Brookside Nursing Home for the care given to Mrs. Evelyn, and especially to Jamie, her “Rose.” Funeral services were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, La. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Reverend Kyle Wall. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery. To extend online condolences, please visit our website at www.matthewsandsonfuneralhome.net.
