Mr. John Milton Price I, of Natchitoches, LA passed away March 6, 2015 peacefully at his residence. Born December 18, 1942 in Winnfield, LA, he was a  graduate of Calvin High Schooland later, LSU in Baton Rouge.   Post-graduation, he was a history professor at LSU until transferring  to NSU Natchitoches in 1972.’ Mr. Price taught at NSU from  1972 until summer of 2014. He often said he got paid to do hishobby, teach history. He was a much beloved professor who made history come alive for his students. Over the past ten years, Mr. Price also conducted research on Colonel Charles Goodnight of Texas. The three Goodnight volumes are scheduled to begin printing this summer and will be dedicated to Mr. Price. Mr. Price professed Jesus as his savior at age 14 and remained diligent in his Christian faith until his passing.’ He was proceeded in death by his parents L.W. and Johnnie Price of Calvin, LA.’ Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Faye Thornhill Price, 3 children, daughter, Sheila  Peter and husband Michael of Natchitoches, son John Milton Price II of Logansport, and son Derek Price and wife Xiomara of League City, TX. Four granddaughters, Nicki Cochran and husband, Jay, of Shreveport, Ariel-Marie Peter and Malayne Price of Natchitoches, and Fior Price of League City, TX. Three grandsons, Alex Peter of Natchitoches, John M. Price III of Keithville and Jorge Wilkis of League City. One great grandson, Chase Cochran of Shreveport. He will be missed by countless relatives, friends, colleagues and students.’ Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with Reverends Richard Gasser and Gilbert Reese officiating. Interment followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Calvin. Serving as pallbearers were John Price II, Derek Price, Michael Peter, brothers, Don, Tim and William Price. Honorary pallbearers were Alex Peter, John Price III, Zach Price, Jorge  Wilkis and Harvey Bryant. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Mr. Price be given to Hospice of Natchitoches at 340 2nd Street Natchitoches, LA 71457.
