Mr. Lloyd Richard Lay

Mr. Lloyd Richard Lay was born on September 4, 1941 in New Orleans, La., and went to live with his Lord and Savior on
January 12, 2015 at his home in Winnfield, La., after a long and difficult battle with COPD. Lloyd graduated from
Covington High School and went on to graduate from Southeastern University in Hammond, La., with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He made a career in sales working for pharmaceutical companies for many years. He retired as a commercial estimator, which took him to many different locations on the east coast. He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, a member of Scottish Rite in Lake Charles, La., and a member of Habibi Shrine in Lake Charles, La. Lloyd was a corpsman in the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Frank and Della Ritter, his father Richard Donald Lay, his mother Elsie Florence Ritter Lay Mottinger, and  his stepfather Don Mottinger, Sr. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 29 years Rena Merle Starnes Kiesewetter Lay of Winnfield, La.; the mother of his children, Carol Heyman of California; a son, David Lay (Dawn), two daughters, Deborah  Jean Wilk, (Bill) and Deanna Walcott (Terry), all of Lakeland, Fl, eight grandchildren; brother, Richard Lay, (Janna), Don Mottinger, Jr. (Christine) all of Slidell, La., a sister Leslie Lee Mottinger Jarrell, (Doug) of Covington, La., step-son Johnny Kiesewetter (Mim), of Alexandria, La., and step-daughter, Margot S. Kiesewetter of Greenville, NC., three step- grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and his two spoiled cats, Buddy and Pepper. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle McGrew officiating, and Masonic rites conducted by Eastern Star Lodge #151 F&AM. Interment followed in New Jerusalem Cemetery, in Winnfield.
