Barbara Lynn Cole Dupree came into this life on October 16, 1946, and passed into eternity to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 23, 2014, at the age of 68 after a  ourageous and very difficult battle with cancer. Services were held at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Coushatta, LA with Rev. Wiley Cole and Dr. Richard Kaufman officiating. Interment followed in Martin  emetery. Services were under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home of Coushatta, La. She dearly loved the Lord, accepting Jesus Christ as her personal  savior at an early age at Martin Baptist Church. She oved her church and singing in the choir, her husband, her community, her students, and doted on her children and their families with a very special love for nine grandchildren. She tried to see every activity and ballgame, soccer, dance recitals, and school activities. This was difficult at times because she was a go-getter. Her love of history led her to travel having been to the British  Isles, many countries in Europe, Middle East, Mexico, Central America, South America, many Caribbean Islands, Canada, and all 50 United States. She especially loved the Holy Land where she visited Israel and Jordan and was baptized in the River Jordan where John the Baptist baptized her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She got to walk where Jesus walked and sail the Sea of Galilee. When in Jerusalem her most revered memories were of the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives, Mount Calvary and the Garden Tomb. In one of her trips to New York City she went by herself to the  Who Wants to be a Millionaire” show and after a rigorous test and application process was selected to be on the show. Her personality really wowed the producers of the show. Quite a feat for a country girl in the Big Apple! She filmed her segment in December 2006, and it was shown on KTBS Channel 3 in May 2007. She made quite a stir on the local news and Channel 3 sent a crew to her home when the show debuted to interview her and watch the show with other family members and friends. The Times and Coushatta Citizen published articles about the adventure. A dedicated teacher, she received her Elementary Education degree in 1967 from Northwestern State University in only 3 years and taught school for 27 years, mostly in Red River Parish. She loved and respected her students many of which she had reconnected on Facebook. She enjoyed catching up on the different paths her students took and the successes they had in their lives. She taught second grade, fourth grade, and Grade 5-8 Language Arts as well as the Head Start program. She went to LSUS where she was able to secure certification and funding to start a science lab for the elementary students at Martin High  chool. To teach one year in the Baton Rouge School System,  he was required to take the National Teacher’s Exam. She had been out of college for over 20 years yet still managed to pass every portion of the exam in one day while waiting on standby for each portion and then having to reg ister and pay for each  ne mere minutes before the exam began. Barbara Lynn never met a stranger and carried joy and infectious laughter wherever she went. Family and church gatherings  ould find her spreading happiness and finding out what everyone had been doing while filling them in on her family. She was also a great cook, one of her Italian Cream cakes sold for $150 at a MHS fundraiser, cooking almost everything from scratch, and a meticulous homemaker. She took pride in everything she did.
