Road tax fails; Winn backs Republican candidates

Louisiana will have two Republican Senators holding concurrent offices for the first time since 1876 after the Dec. 6 general election saw Rep. Bill Cassidy unseat incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu in a sizeable defeat. Cassidy secured 712,330
votes to Landrieu’s 561,099, signaling a 56% win over the incumbent’s 44%.
