Mr. Woodie J. Sonnier

Mr. Woodie J. Sonnier, beloved husband of Ann Sonnier, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 in his home at the age of 76. Woodie was the proud father of four children and proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Woodie was born December 23, 1937 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was the son of the late Woodrow Sonnier and the late Katherine Plunkett DeRollo and the grandson of the late Pearl Plunkett. Woodie was also preceded in death by his  brother Benny Sonnier. Mr. Sonnier was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Jordan Hill. He served in the United States Air Force for eight years. Woodie was a welder and a proud member of 798 Pipeline Union out of Tulsa, Oklahoma for 53 years. Because of illness, he retired in 1992. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Joyce
Ann Sonnier; son Tony Sonnier and wife Judy; daughters Debbie Tharpe and husband Allen, Gina Weeks and Fiancé Jimmy Aymond and Traci Jenkins. Mr. Sonnier’s sisters are Susie Sonnier of Lafayette and Kim Wright of Alexandria. His
brothers are Duke Sonnier and the late Benny Sonnier. The funeral service was held July 10, 2014 at Southern
Funeral Home in Winnfield, Louisiana with the Rev. Rayford Higgs, Rev. Vince Brocato, Bro. Kenneth Hyde and Rev.
Russell Jones officiating. Pallbearers were Charles Sonnier, Spencer Sonnier, Lynk Jenkins, Cole Weeks, David Northcut, Dallas Jenkins, and Aidan Weeks. Honorary pallbearers were Duke Sonnier, Gene Edmonds, Quincy Carter, Grandson Cory White, Kent Rodriguez, Arnold R. Bedgood, Jimmy Aymond, Derek “Red” Parnell and Tendle Wright.
