Mrs. Betty Jean Burnworth, a resident of Eros, LA, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the age of 78. Born on Saturday, August 18, 1945, in Winnfield, LA, Betty lived a life rich in love and devotion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John L. Bartley and Eunice Faye Jones Bartley. She is survived by her loving husband, David Burnworth, and her dear brother, Lavelle Bartley (Ann). Betty’s memory will be cherished by her niece, Dana Grant (Darrell), and her nephew, Craig Bartley (Tina). She is also survived by her great niece, Sage Bartley, and great nephews Micah Chesney, Caleb Chesney, and Dalton Bartley. Betty leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.

Betty’s family and friends were invited to pay their respects during public visitation hours at Southern Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Brandon Jones, was held at Southern Funeral Home on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Betty Jean Burnworth was laid to rest at Jordan Hill Cemetery.

Betty was a woman who cherished her family, finding immense joy in the company of her great nieces and nephews. She had a passion for reading, particularly indulging in Amish romance novels. Despite her many health challenges, she never lost her faith in God and the love she had for her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, reflecting Betty’s compassion for children in need.
