Local Band, L.I.F.E., Nominated for the Josie Awards

L.I.F.E. (Living in Faith Everyday) has been nominated for the Josie Music Award 2018 Gospel Band of the Year along with five others in this category. This group of Southern Gospel singers consists of Robert Jones, Aurora (Daneen) and Willie Beaubouef, all of Dry Prong, and local guitarist Nathanael Young of Winnfield.

The Josie Music Awards is a fan nominated event. While in Ohio May 25, they were notified of their nomination. Jones said, “Our fans voted and made this possible, but most importantly God made this happen.”

MultiAgency Criminal Enforcement Detail Yields 38 Arrests in Central Louisiana

After a two day criminal enforcement detail, 38 individuals have been arrested and are off the streets of Central Louisiana.

On Thursday, August 16, 2018 and on Friday, August 17, 2018, investigators from Louisiana State Police, in conjunction with numerous other law enforcement agencies, conducted a criminal enforcement detail in Avoyelles, LaSalle, Rapides, and Winn Parishes. The objective was to serve fugitive warrants and apprehend individuals engaged in criminal activity.

Patrick Horn, Winn Parish native Announces the Launch of his new novel Pad Pennywell

Patrick Horn is excited to announce the release of his new novel Pad Pennywell.

During post Civil War era reconstruction, former slave Pad Pennywell had hopes of starting a new life with his wife, daughter and adopted family in Texas. Little did Pad know that his life was about to be torn apart, when his family is brutalized by a band of thieves and murderers along the Harrisonburg Rd, a stretch of trail that connects the Natchez trace with the El Camino Real.

Central Management Company and Lagniappe Homecare hosted their 9th annual Run for Your Life 5K and Fun Run on May 12th, 2018, at Forts Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site.ž

This was another successful year with $12,000 being raised which brings our total contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the past 3 years to $33,000.ž

New Louisiana Traffic Laws Impact DWI Convictions

Several new highway safety laws are now in effect in Louisiana, including stiffer penalties for DWI convictions, new laws concerning driving through flooded areas and the use of off-road vehicles on public roads.

Louisiana Capitol The new laws were passed during the 2018 regular session of the Louisiana Legislature. Most of the new laws became effective on August 1, according to Louisiana Highway Safety Commission Executive Director Lisa Freeman.
