Winn Parish Students Attend National 4H Congress

Miss Betty Sue Southerland, age 83 of Winnfield, Louisiana went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2017. Present at her beside were her two loving sisters Barbara Marshall and Carol Melton. Bom January 6, 1934, in Port Barre, LA, she was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Montgomery and Marjorie Thelma (Grimmett) Southerland; sister, Norma Jean Southerland; and brother, Jerry Hugh Southerland. Miss Southerland was a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, mowing and hunting. She worked at Winnfield First Federal, Winn Parish Sheriff’s Office, Troy’s Supermarket, and the Mayor’s Office before retiring. Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Barbara Ann Marshall of Winnfield, LA; sister, Carol Marie Melton of Winnfield, LA; niece, Karen Ann Stout (Dan) of West Monroe, LA; niece, Diana Lynn Roald (Bjorn) Kongsberg, Norway; niece, Donna Sue Coates of Tioga, LA; niece, Sharon Renee Forrester of Baton Rouge, LA; nephew, John Spencer Melton of Reno, NV; great-nephew, Andrew Marcus Stout of West Monroe, LA; great-niece, Ann-Louise Roald of Kongsberg, Norway; great-niece, Caitlin Mae Coates of Alexandria, LA; great-nephew, Bjorn Eirik Roald of Kongsberg, Norway; greatnephew, William Montgomery Forrester of Baton Rouge, LA; great-niece, Megan Colleen Melton of Reno, NV; great-great niece, Kyla Drew Stout, of West Monroe, LA and other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Eric Dupree and his Nursing staff; the Nurses and Staff of the ICU Unit of Winn Parish Medical Center; and the Nurses and Staff of Autumn Leaves Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center who cared for Miss Southerland during her illness.
