Persistence and Determination By The Tigers Shows On The Scoreboard

The persistence of the young Winnfield Senior High School Tiger football team, and their efforts to refine their skills and eliminate errors, paid off last Thursday. The game against the Lakeview High School Gators from Campti, was originally scheduled for Friday, but was played early, in anticipation of severe thunderstorms.

Even with the one-game suspension of five of the Tiger players, as a result of an on-field altercation at Holy Savior Menard the prior week, the Tigers showed up and showed out. Some of the younger players stepped up and openings on the field were filled, and the performance was one that won’t soon be forgotten.

The Tigers played a consistent game, in which each quarter gained numbers on the scoreboard. Freshman Rhett Blake put two points on the board with a conversion. Juniors Justin Lawson and Tristen Williams put six and 24 points on the board, respectively. While Senior Morgan Creel put three points on the board. The final score for the game was 35 – 26, giving the Tigers their first win of the regular season.
