Born in Yuba City, California, she was a devoted daughter of Frank and Alma Alexander, also residents of Yuba City.
Joan’s warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched everyone she encountered. An avid San Francisco 49ers fan, she loved cheering her team on with infectious enthusiasm, long hours spent tending her garden, and Sundays fishing and basking in the sunlight. Above all else, she cherished her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy; doting on not only her own, but every child who entered her home—welcoming them with open arms and unconditional love.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Bennett; her c h i l d ren— Dar r y l Bennett, Angela Bennett, and Patrick Bennett of Winnfield, LA; and her treasured granddaughters, Kaitlin Bennett of Winnfield, LA and Kara Toten of Rio Rancho, NM, as well as six great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her loving mother, Alma Alexander, and her siblings: Darryl Alexander (Pleasanton, CA), Sandi Jordan (Sutter, CA), Timi Huskinson (Las Vegas, NV), Richard Alexander (Yuba City, CA), and Lori Wangberg (Chico, CA). Her dearest friend, Tammy Anastasio of Tracy, CA, also deeply mourns her loss.
Joan was preceded in death by her siblings, Greg Alexander and Teri Ries.
Her life was a quiet testament to humility and selflessness— always giving, always caring, never asking for anything in return. Joan’s memory will live on through the lives she touched, the grandchildren she adored, the gardens she tended, and the countless acts of kindness she shared.
