Rev. C.W. “Jack” Jones

Rev. C.W. “Jack” Jones, age 98 years, 9 months and 29 days, of Winnfield, Louisiana entered his Heavenly Home on Friday, September 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 15, 1925 in Atlanta, Louisiana to the union of Rufus T. and Nena Jones. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Archie, Wesley, Curtis, Buddy, Dr. E. Carl, Ardis and Raymond Jones. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1942. He helped organize the Atlanta Alumni association and was an officer and board member for many years. He was employed in several businesses in Winnfield and retired from the United States Postal Service as a city letter carrier.
Bro. Jones was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church, Winnfield. He was the oldest World War II Veteran in Winn Parish. He served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise CV6 in the Pacific operation his entire time in service.
He married the love of his life, Moeice Lashley Jones on December 21, 1947. This December they would have been married 77 years. They were privileged to have two daughters, Yvonne Jones and Paula Jones. He was a loving Christian husband, father, and successful influence upon their lives.
Jack was ordained as a deacon of South Winnfield Baptist Church where he directed music, taught Sunday School and Training Union and served in many leadership roles. Bro. Jones surrendered his life to the ministry in January 1962. He preached in Winn Parish and surrounding parishes for fifty years. He served in many church leadership roles in the Winn Baptist Association. He served on the board that organized the Friendship Camp, Jonesboro. He continued to serve on the board for twenty plus years and was proud of the investment that Friendship still has in the lives of today’s youth.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 76 years Moeice Lashley Jones; daughters Yvonne Jones (George) of Pride, Louisiana, Paula Jones of Winnfield, Louisiana; brother in law, Walter Lashley (Cindy); sister in law, Bobbie Lashley; and a host of special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends visited with the family on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 5PM until 8PM at the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, and again from noon until service time on Wednesday.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 2PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dick DeBusk, Rev. Danny Keyes, Rev. John Holland, Larry Jones, and Bob Holeman officiating.
Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers were Kenny Jones, Larry Jones, Johnny Snead, David James, Zayne Perkins, Kaden Lashley, Kortney Lashley, Jaden Lashley, Jeff Lashley, Wyatt Schneider, and Jason Maricelli.
Interment was in Sardis Cemetery, Atlanta, Louisiana under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes, Winnfield. Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.southernfuneralhome. com
