Anne Lasyone Futch

Anne Lasyone Futch passed from this earth to her Heavenly home on July 6, 2024 in Bossier City, La. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grand-mother. Anne was born March 31, 1928 to the union of Henry Elijah (Lige) Wilkerson and Bertha Mae Taylor Wilkerson in Joyce, La.
As a young woman, Anne was severely burned on December 14, 1942, which took many months of recovery, including many months of hospitalization in New Orleans, La. After some time, she tried returning to school but was physically unable to do so. She later studied and earned her GED from the Huey P. Long Trade School in Winnfield, La.
In 1944, she met a handsome young man, fresh out of the army, Huey E. Lasyone from Verda, La. This union produced two children. First, a daughter, Shirley Ann and then a son, Ronald Hugh (Ronnie). They were married until his death in November 1989.
Anne began her professional career as an insurance agent in 1963 while working for Merchants Insurance Agency, owned by the late Pucket and Rose Willis. She was a faithful employee for 24 years. Merchants Insurance Agency was sold in late 1987. After that, Anne decided to branch out on her own, opening Lasyone Insur ance Agency, Inc. in Winnfield, LA. She brought in her daughter, Shirley and son, Ronnie, along with Huey, who died in 1989. Lasyone Insurance now has third and fourth generational family members working in the agency, Brandon Knotts and Zoe Ashworth. Up until recently, Anne was still a constant presence at the office. Her health finally forced her retirement in the industry, after 61 years. Down through the years, she serviced the insurance needs of hundreds of citizens in Winnfield and surrounding areas plus many of the states of the USA. Anne was very respected by her peers.
In 1992, Anne married Glenn W. Futch, owner of Futch Motor Company in Winnfield, La. They were married until his passing on January 13, 2007. They spent many wonderful years traveling thru out the entire USA in their motor home.
Anne spent her adult life serving the Lord in many capacities, pianist, organist, Sunday School teacher, Training Union teacher, G.A. teacher. She was a founding member of East Winnfield Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church.
She believed in working hard all her life. In her spare time she liked to sew and make hand stitched quilts. In her later days she loved to play Mexican Dominos and work crossword puzzles. She felt that kept her mind active.
Nothing in life made her more happy than to have her family gather for one of her delicious home cooked meals, followed by a little ‘pickin and grinin’ around the piano in her music room. Everyone would bring their instruments. Many hours were spent with friends and family gathered around singing hymnals of choice.
For the past six months, Anne’s health began to rapidly decline, leading to sessions in Cypress Point Rehab and numerous hospital stays. The family would like to thank Cliff Hatcher and all the staff at Cypress Point plus Dr. Joel Casale with Cypress. Thank you to Dr. Sanjay Shaw, the family doctor, and Dr. John Bienvenu and a huge thanks to Dr. Jimmy Smith with Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists.
Anne is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Huey E. Lasyone and second husband Glenn Futch, her mother Bertha Mae Wilkerson Tarver, her father Elijih (Lige) Wilkerson, brother George R. Wilkerson (Oline), brother Luther Wikerson, sister Faye Bemont (L.B.), baby sister, Eva Lyn Wilkerson. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Knotts Darden (Marshall), Ronnie Lasyone (Alice).
