To the Electorate in Winnfield, As a former resident of Winnfield, I know what the city needs. Our city has a rich legacy and a storied past. We are a fortress in north central Louisiana, and that is what our founding fathers and the dynamic leaders of yesteryear expected this great city to be. It is only my hope that we continue toward what they imagined.

At a time when polls show public opinion turning against the Democrats, some Republicans seem to be turning against each other. Even with the prospect of being able to win control of the Senate in this fall's elections, some Republicans are busy manufacturing ammunition for their own circular firing squad.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 enacted July 2, 1964 is a landmark piece of civil rights legislation in the United States and outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It ended unequal application of voter registration requirements and racial segregation in schools, at the workplace and by facilities that served the general public (known as “public accommodations”).

The Afghanistan government's recent release of dozens of imprisoned terrorists, many of whom had killed Americans, was a galling betrayal of those Americans who died defending Afghanistan against the  Taliban terrorists — as well as those Americans who have returned home with arms or legs missing, or with minds traumatized beyond repair.

There may be something to the claim that all people want to be free. But it is a demonstrable fact that freedom has

been under attack, usually successfully, for thousands of years. The Federal C o m m u n i c a t i o n s Commission's recent plan to have a "study" of how editorial decisions are made in the media, placing FCC bureaucrats in editorial offices across

the country, was one of the boldest assaults on freedom of the press

came out in May, 2013 is published by the American Psychiatric Association

It seems as if, everywhere you turn these days, there are studies claiming to show that America has lost its upward mobility for people born in the lower socioeconomic levels. But there is a sharp difference between upward "mobility," defined as an opportunity to rise, and mobility defined as actually having risen.

The importance of spirituality is more acceptable in therapy especially in substance and chemical abuse treatment. In a survey of 317 addiction treatment professionals, 84 per cent believed spirituality should be incorporated into the treatment.

The shopping mall can become a shopping maul. One  of the ways of buying gifts for family and friends, without 

becoming part of a mob scene in the stores, is to shop on the Internet. However, for many kinds of gifts, you want to be
