A funeral service for Robert “Luke” Buchanan, 68, was scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2025, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville with Bro. John Bryant officiating. He was laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens.

Visitation began on Sunday, February 9, 2025, and friends were cordially invited to visit with the Buchanan family from 3 to 5 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Luke was born on November 27, 1956, in Winnfield, Louisiana to Robert and Sybil Buchanan and entered into eternal life on February 6, 2025.

Luke Buchanan was the beloved owner of Buchanan’s Plumbing Service since 1989. Over the decades, he became a trusted and respected plumber in Jacksonville and impacted so many lives. Luke had a deep love for the outdoors, with a particular passion for duck hunting and fishing. One of Luke’s greatest joys was sitting by the fireplace, surrounded by his loving family, telling stories. Luke leaves behind his devoted family, including his wife, children, and grandchildren. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the life of a man who brought so much light and love into our community.

Luke was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Donald Dawson.

Left to cherish Luke’s memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Kimberly Buchanan; children, Robert Luke Buchanan Jr., Bryan Keith Buchanan and wife Suzanna of Jacksonville, Brittany Jones and husband Aaron of Nacogdoches, and Skylar Luke Buchanan of Jacksonville; and mother-in-law, Bernadine Dawson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shelby, Peyton C. and wife Hannah, Lacey, Caitlin, Nicholas, Hailey, Braxton, Peyton J., Atley, Jaxon, Brayden, Dawson, and Hudson; 5 great grandchildren; bonus son, Timur Tanklay and wife Eva; bonus grandchildren, John Lukas and Ben David; special friends, Jeremy Dorey, Arturo Franco, and Jaclyn Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were: J.J. Herrington, Amir Nikravesh, Todd Sunday, Casey Blakeney, Connor Shofner, and Grant Thedford.

Honorary pallbearers Were: Paul Shofner, David Thedford, Jimmy Poisso, Bill Rowell, Kelley Blakeney, Shannon Blakeney.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Sarah Parker, his home health nurse with Traditions Home Health.
