Walter Tate White, Jr.

Mr. Walter Tate White, Jr., of Houma, Louisiana passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, July 2, 2023 in Terrebone General Hospital with his precious family at his side. Mr. White was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to the union of Walter Tate White, Sr. and Warrena Harlow White on April 24, 1929. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Sabine (1946-1948) and then a merchant mariner (1948-1951). He married the love of his life, Florence Harrington on February 23, 1952. He retired from a long career from Bell South and AT&T phone companies

with 30 plus years as an engineer. A very active 94 year old, he spent his childhood in Packton, Louisiana and graduated from Selma High School. He enjoyed maintaining his timber property and loved traveling with his wife in their RV.

Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Tate White, Sr. and Warrena Harlow White, and one grandchild, Andrew William White.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 71 years Florence Harrington White; children, W. Tate White, III (Diane), Michael A. White (Cathy), Carrie Rudolf (Milton); grandchildren, Jordan White (Lyndsey), Christine White, Michael White (Katie), Nicole Rozinski (Paul), Jennifer Raboin (Nate), Laura Hook (Shelton), Rebecca Boland (Adam); great grandchildren, Roary, Finley, Conner, Jaxon, Logan, Orion, Lincoln, Collin, Lillian, Hunter, and Charlotte.

The family receive friends at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Winnfield, Louisiana on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 9AM until 11AM.

A Funeral Mass honoring the life of Mr. White was held at 11AM at the church with Father Sklar officiating. Interment was in Zion Cemetery, Georgetown, Louisiana under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, Louisiana. Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers were Tate White, Mike White, Milton Rudolf, Jordan White, Shelton Hook, and Adam Boland.
