Randell Aaron Fletcher

Services for Randell Aaron Fletcher were held at Verda Baptist Church on Saturday, April 15th at 10:00 am with the Rev Frank Peacock officiating. Interment followed at Aloha-St. Rose cemetery in Aloha, Louisiana under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Visitation was held from noon until 9 pm on Friday, April 14th at Verda Baptist Church.

Mr. Fletcher, 87, died peacefully at his home in Aloha, Louisiana on April 12, 2023 surrounded by his family.

He was a devoted family man, a leader in his community and in his parish. He served as board member and Chairman of the Bank of Montgomery (BOM) board member and Chairman of Red River W a t e r w a y Commission. He served as a board member of Grant Parish Soil Conservation & Water, Louisiana State Soil & Water Commission. He was on the Board of the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and served as President. He was elected to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame for his dedicated work in livestock. He was a cattle farmer, taught elementary school at Colfax for nineteen years, served on Grant Parish Police Jury for four years and was the Grant Parish Assessor for twenty two years.

He was a Sunday School teacher at Verda Baptist Church for forty eight years, was Treasurer for over fifty years and served as a deacon from 1957 until his death. He made seventeen mission trips to Honduras and Alaska for medical and building purposes.

He was born and raised in Verda, Louisiana and graduated from Verda High School in 1953. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Education degree from Northwestern State University.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Geraldine Hale Fletcher, his son, Steve Fletcher, daughters Becky Reeder and Celeste Fletcher (John Wardlow) all of Aloha. Grandchildren, Kristen Tarver (Adam) Joshua Fletcher, Carrie Butler (Blake) Heather Herron (Joe) Zach Reeder (Samantha) and Leanne Foreman (Clay). Great grandchildren Indy Ammons, Luke Butler, Allie Butler, Seth Herron, Kate Herron, Rhett Reeder, Brady Foreman and Camille Foreman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Edna Fletcher, his daughterin- law, Candy Fletcher and his great grandson, Logan Ammons.

Pallbearers were Adam Tarver, Blake Butler, Joe Herron, Clay Foreman, Zach Reeder and Joshua Fletcher.

Honorary pallbearers were Stan Jackson, Steve Jackson, Ken Hale, Dr. Greg Brian, Butch McClain and the Verda Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children or Verda Baptist Church Building Fund.
