Nelda Varnell Reed

Nelda Varnell Reed 79, passed peacefully at her Metairie, La home on March 26, 2021 after a long illness. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents Bessie and Leon Varnell. She also lost her beloved son Gary Davila in 2017. She is survived and greatly missed by her daughters Andrea (Davila) Bostick and Melissa (Reed) Blystone, her brother Carroll Varnell and nephew Bryan Varnell. Nelda will also be missed by her grandson Brian Bostick and her sons in law Mark Bostick and Tony Blystone. We loved her tremendously and know she loved us as well. She was very proud of us all.

Nelda was born in Winnfield La and graduated from Winnfield High School. She also attended Northwestern State University. She often spoke fondly of her schoolmates.

Nelda was a hard working, single Mom who gave her children all that she could. She had a great sense of humor and will be remembered fondly by her family. All her grandpuppies loved her and she loved them. Nelda was a big sports fan who loved the Texas Rangers and Greenbay. She was a seamstress and loved to watch sewing and art shows.

A private burial service will be held at Old Union Church Cemetery
