Glen D. Rowell

Mr. Glen D. Rowell of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on September, 3, 2021 at home with his wife and loved ones by their side. Mr. Rowell was born on April 19, 1938 in Winnfield, Louisiana to the union of Theodore and Martha Powell.

He was an avid bass fisherman, duck and whitetail deer hunter in his favorite area, Saline Lake. So much so, he created his own line of fishing lures named Saline Lake Lures. He once asked his mother where he came from and she stated jokingly, when you was a little boy I found you walking down the road with a fishing pole in one hand and a shotgun in the other. He was loved and admired by friends and family for his wonderful experiences and stories of fishing and hunting told around the old hunting camps after an exciting day.

Many people knew him as an expert contractor carpenter, building many of the homes and business buildings in Winnfield and surrounding areas. Though out his lifetime he joyfully passed his vast knowledge in the field on to family members and labored with patience and ease giving them a way to support their family as he did. Community members still remember his business Kisatchie Homes fondly.

He was a devout member of Jehovah’s Witness for all his adult life. He lived his life with Jehovah in his heart always seeking the truth. Within the congregation he was known for his Bible knowledge and kind counsel. He immensely enjoyed overseeing the building of many Kingdom Halls throughout Louisiana.

He stood hand in hand with his devoted wife Mrs. Peggy Rowell, which lovingly cared for him on a daily basis as his parkinsons progressed. In 64 years of marriage they traveled, laughed and enjoyed everything together. They were a perfect example of a loving married life to their six children they raised together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister ExerMay Richards and Elsie Geiger; brothers A.D., Gerald, and Gary Rowell; and a beloved and missed grandson Anthony Jensen.

Left to remember him by his wife Peggy Rowell; brother, J.E. Rowell; sons, Mark and Alene Rowell, Marlon and Tonia Rowell, Michael and Lezlie Rowell; daughters, Michelle Starks, Melanie and Tony Jensen, and Misty and Jason Turner. His also survived by his loving grandchildren Naomi and Patrick McAninch, Lily and Deke Schexneider, Matthew Jensen, Rowan and Chase Turner; great grandchildren Kallie and Landry Guidrox, William McAninch, Leyna Rowell, Karly and Maximus Schexneider.
